New Ventures

Joint ventures and partnership working

A joint venture involves the pooling of resources and expertise by two or more organisations to achieve a particular goal. Sometimes this is a short-term project, such as launching a new product or service, and at other times it is the creation of a long-term relationship involving joint ownership of a new business.

Joint ventures usually work best where the two organisations have complementary areas of expertise, which enable them to achieve something together that neither party would be able to do alone. For example, if the goal is to develop a new enterprise in the area of interactive, web-based learning , a company or charity specialising in education may partner with a software company to run this new business as a joint venture.

In most joint ventures, the two parties involved usually share a proportion of the risks and rewards.

At Community Innovation UK we are keen to develop joint ventures with organisations which have strong ideas for products or services and want us to work with them to effectively launch and develop the business.

We also have expertise in helping to bring together organisations that want to initiate a joint venture or partnership and want an impartial third party to help them put the venture together. For example; by working through the legal and operational issues with them to help maximise the potential of their collaborative relationship.
